Asia-Pacific Conference on East Timor

The Asia- Pacific Conference on East Timor was held in May of 1994 in Manila. The goal of the conference was to bring into focus the Timorese's people's right to self-determination and consolidate its support network in the Asia-Pacific region.

Barbara McDougall was the Secretary of State of External affairs for Canada who met with the Indonesian Foreign Minister in Seoul in 1991.

This project fueled controversy as Indonesia was not being punished for their human rights violations and continued to receive funding for various project.
